經典賽今年將進入第四屆，球員婉拒參賽浪潮可能是史上之最。「波士頓先鋒報」引述一位球員經紀人與球團高層英國 衛 褲 台灣的對話，指出儘管球團不會公開承認，但他們並不希望陣中球星參與經典賽，即便身上無病無痛，都不想冒著打經典賽的受傷風險。
紅襪三巨投都在美國隊的50人大名單中，但三人去年合計共投687.1局，為了讓手臂充分休息、全心備戰新球季，去年美聯塞揚波瑟羅已婉拒參加，普萊斯和塞爾還沒表態參加與否，但已有消息指出兩人同樣都會婉拒參賽。
唐布洛斯基表示，自己一直都很支持經典賽，是否放行球員參賽的原則很簡單，「如果球員想打，只要他健康且做好準備，他們都可以去打。」
談到旗下三巨投都傾向退出經典賽，唐布洛斯基表示，「這是他們自己的決定，他們在備戰上都很聰明，唯有在認為自己做好準備的情況下，才會答應出戰經典賽，如果他們想打，我不會有任何的猶豫。」
唐布洛斯基表態支持經典賽，但「波士頓先鋒報」也很老實寫著：「三位投手屆時都將在紅襪春訓基地，在球團關注的眼神之下投球，不管唐斯布洛斯基承不承認，這點肯定會讓他很開心。」
